15 Must Know Math Formulas For S.A.T Math Section

Scholastic Aptitude Test, or what is commonly referred to as SAT in modern days is a standardized test. It is taken by thousands of students each year throughout the world, especially in the United States. The main purpose behind taking this test is the college requirements. Most colleges and universities in the United States require a test score (either from SAT or ACT) as a part of the application process. There are 4 sections of the SAT exam which include Reading, Writing, Math (No Calculator and Calculator).

In this blog, we will be talking about the SAT Math Section. More specifically about the main math specific sat formulas that come to use more often than others. Some of the basic math formulas are already provided on the question paper by the College Board [see list below], however, there are many that are not provided and students should definitely know before the test day. In other words, being familiar with these formulas and at least memorizing them will ensure that you are equipped to take on the SAT Math Section on test day.

Although, these are SAT formulas to memorize, knowing how to use these formulas is much more helpful for student than just merely remembering the formulas. It will help you both in the short term and long term.

So from here on, the blog contains the math section specific sat formulas sheet.

Here are some SAT formulas to know [S.A.T Math Section]:

  1. How to calculate the slope of a line
  2. Slope – Intercept Form
  3. Midpoint Formula
  4. Distance Formula
  5. Quadratic Formula
  6. Sin Operation
  7. Cos Operation
  8. Tan Operation
  9. Probability
  10. Equation of a Circle
  11. Exponential Growth
  12. Arithmetic Sequence
  13. Geometric Sequence
  14. Pythagorean Formula
  15. Parabola’s Vertex Formula

To answer the question: What math formulas does the sat give you? Here is a list of some formulas provided to students:

  • Area and Circumference of a Circle
  • Area of a triangle
  • Area of a rectangle
  • Volume of rectangular solid
  • Pythagorean theorem
  • Volume of cylinder
  • Volume of sphere
  • Volume of a cone
  • Volume of a pyramid

There are other formulas required for the SAT Math Sections which are already given on the first page of the test. Be sure to be familiar with all those formulas.

Some Methods To Aid You [S.A.T Math Section]:

  1. Use Process of Elimination (some answers are clearly wrong, so you can eliminate them as soon as you notice them)
  1. Plug-In Answers To Equations (Given That It is applicable and you have enough time because if you keep plugging in answers all the time, you might run out of time for other questions that might be harder and require more time to be solved)
  1. Work in a way that you never get in this situation however In a case where you have say one minute and 10 questions to solve, Do not forget to bubble in all answers instead of trying to solve that one question. Even though there is less probability that you will bubble the right answer for each question because you are randomly bubbling or bubbling with a pattern (for example you bubble in C for all of the rest), it is so much better than leaving questions without any answer. Doing this just increases your probability of getting them right even though the probability is very less.
  1. Do not spend too much time on one question or a couple of questions that are hard for you since you are just wasting time by doing that. By this, I do not mean to make you just leave the hard questions empty, but what I mean is just spend a reasonable amount of time trying to answer them. If you feel like you have spent too much of time on one question and you are still not able to surely get one right answer, just skip it for the moment and come back later to solve it.
  1. This one is the most important one, Do not panic and keep calm all the way through.
